The project, named “Mare Nostrum, an identity, multiple cultures”, aims at the deepening of the Mediterranean culture, emphasizing its importance and multiplicity. Accordingly, the cultures of the partner countries will be studied, focusing on the specific aspects of each country and, after, on those characteristics which identify them as Mediterranean countries. Thus, starting from the analysis of the particularities of the various partners, these can obtain a deeper knowledge concerning the specific identities of each country, such as traditions, agriculture, biodiversity, History, geography and regional cuisine, with particular emphasis to the protection of an endangered animal species common to all countries and to the Mediterranean diet and its health benefits ... Based on that knowledge, a map of similarities concerning the Mediterranean culture will be developed allowing those involved in the project to work features that identify this ancient culture. Thus, it will be promoted a common Mediterranean identity as well as a greater awareness of European citizenship.
This work will be unified by the use of a non Mediterranean language – English – contributing, this way, to the internationalization of the project, to the cultural export and also to the participation in the identification of the European citizenship.
